Washington Craft Show 2011

The Washington Craft Show is a wonderful place to shop for unique gifts and decorative items. This annual show at the Washington Convention Center features a wide variety of contemporary crafts including metal, leather, basketry, jewelry, ceramics, glass and more. It is one of the nation’s leading events of contemporary craft, bringing together more than 190 accomplished craft artists, who create timeless works to use, wear and display all year. Some of the artists’ work is in museum collections such as the Renwick Gallery, Corning Museum of Glass, Boston Museum of Fine Arts. It’s a juried show, drawing the best work from across the nation. New for 2011! – FASHION SHOWS
Friday, Dec. 2 & Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. Models will show off the latest creations in wearable art, jewelry and fashion accessories by the more than three-dozen fashion designers and jewelry makers, from 28 states across the nation, whose work will be available during the show. The wearable art on display will be as diverse as the designers themselves; from hand-embellished silk shirts to hand-painted raincoats; chainmail vests and scarves; jackets and sandals. Jewelry creations will run the gamut from simple, yet elegant brooches to necklaces made from exotic stones, gems and pearls. Rounding out the event will be handbags, hats and other accessories, all hand-crafted in artists’ studios across the country.
